Brand: Bayer Schering / Schering
Proviron® is a mesterolone tablet made by Bayer Schering Pharma. Schering developed it in 1934, which makes it one of the first drugs used in hormone replacement therapy. It's a derivative of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), so it behaves like a strong androgen but a very weak anabolic agent. Doctors prescribe it for conditions caused by too little androgen, and for male infertility. Bayer's own leaflet states that at the recommended medical dose it won't impair sperm production. In strength-training literature, Proviron is a support compound. It's mentioned alongside other products, since it doesn't build much muscle on its own.
Proviron® is mesterolone, a DHT-based androgen with a methyl group at the first carbon. Unlike most oral steroids, it has no 17-alpha alkyl group, so it avoids the liver stress that comes with that change. It's absorbed quickly after swallowing, binds strongly to proteins in the blood and is broken down fast. Each tablet contains 25 mg. The Bayer leaflet also lists lactose as an ingredient.
It is the Bayer Schering brand of mesterolone, an oral androgen supplied as 25 mg tablets in boxes of 20.
It's used to treat conditions caused by androgen deficiency in men and some forms of male infertility.
It's an androgen derived from DHT. It has strong androgenic effects but only weak anabolic effects, so it doesn't build much muscle.
It's considered easier on the liver than most oral steroids, because it isn't 17-alpha-alkylated. It's still not suitable for people with liver tumors.
